It's my first day of classes at Indiana University and I've decided to celebrate it by creating a blog and trying my hand at expressing my thoughts through written form rather than keeping them in my head or just sharing them with whoever happens to be in my vicinity.

So far it's been good, I had an Intro to Finite class at 8 this morning and my teacher decided to jump right into his lesson so I still have no idea about his syllabus, hopefully he's posted it on Canvas so I can look it up in my own time, it wasn't earlier. I had a few hours back at my dorm before my next class which started at 1 and just finished. It's connected to my major, which happens to be International Studies, I'm a Direct Admit to the School of Global and International Studies (SGIS) here at IU. No idea where it'll take me but I hope it'll help me figure things out, like what I want to do with my life. The class was called Culture and Politics and so far it seems pretty interesting, our first Unit is going to be about Communication, I capitalized it because it's actually a pretty big topic. Most people don't really think about it much but it makes up most of our lives. Humans are social creatures after all and a large part of their social behavior definitely has to do with how we communicate with one another. I'm excited to learn about what my professor's take on it will be.

After this my next class is another to do with my major, it's called Diplomacy, Security and Governance, I'm interested to see what it'll end up being about. When I signed up for classes I thought I'd have both of my SGIS classes in the SGIS building but, silly me, turns out my next one is in the Law Building some 20-30 minutes away from here on the other side of campus, then it's right back here to SGIS for my Direct Admit Seminar, what fun! It's hard to tell in writing, but that was sarcasm. I'm almost positive that there is a version of my next class taught here in the SGIS building, I'm just not taking it, which sucks. Oh well, the trek really isn't all that bad, my only fear is later when the sunset is earlier in the day, I don't want to be walking across campus at night by myself. My hope is that since it is an SGIS class there will be other having to come to the seminar from there too so I'll have a group to walk with. Guess I'll find out, right now the sun doesn't set until 8 so I have time to figure things out.

So, today is the solar eclipse, here in Bloomington it'll reach it's peak at 2:25, which is pretty soon. I'm going to go watch it before heading to my next class. I'm really excited for it though I don't really know why, I think it's my dad's doing. He's seriously pumped for it and I think I've inherited his excitement by association. He was event tempted to try and figure out a way to get us (me, him and my two younger siblings) over to Kentucky or Tennessee or wherever the peak can be seen from in the midwest. But seeing as he's a chemistry teacher, all of us have school and that just wasn't going to happen, especially with me seeing as it's my first day. Oh, well, we get like 94% coverage here and something close to that over in Indy where they are, so it's alright.

I'm gonna go now, thanks fo reading!
