This is the first post I've done in a really long time, I have this thing where I like the idea of keeping a blog where I can voice my thoughts and I go to the effort of creating an account but then I don't do anything with it. I do the same thing with social media, I have an account for facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat, tumblr and pinterest, and I do absolutely nothing with them. Sure I'll go through tumblr and pinterest to look at other people's stuff, and every now and again I'll see what updates I have on facebook thanks to what my family does, maybe I'll even send out the lone tweet, but other than that, nada. It's weird because I do actually want to be apart of it, to a certain extent, it's just that I somehow missed when everyone was starting out on them so now I'm behind and don't want to put in the effort of catching up. I don't know, I just have other things to do I guess, usually reading fanfiction or comics. I'd read...

My first day of second day classes, which mostly means we actually got into the lecture for the first time instead of just going over the syllabus. Honestly, I'm kind of dissappointed, I was expecting more debating. Instead we talked a little bit about the less interesting reading we had, even less about the actually interesting one and then watched two TED talks, which were good, but not a whole lot of participation goes in there. I had some stuff I wanted to say about the article, too, so, since I couldn't talk in class, I'll do it here. The first reading we had was about the Nacirema, it was a satire of the way researchers in the past and sometimes now, talked about other cultures like they weren't as advanced and modern as their own and, as such, theirs was superior. He talked about the magical ritual of the Nacirema, their shrine of supposedly medicinal charms that they never get rid of even when their used, the basin of holy waters every member of the family gat...

So, today was my second day of college, my second set of first day classes. I only had two classes today, one of the required Natural Science and Mathematics courses (N&M) following the scientific, or rather, biological, viewpoint of race, gender and sexuality. There are two other courses looking into the same topic, one is an Arts and Humanities course (A&H) and the other is a Social and Historical Studies course (S&H), they go over the topic from different angles. According to my professor he'll teach us for eight weeks and then we'll be taught for a bit by each of the other two, it's a new thing they're trying where the professor change up classes a bit and show each one the other way of looking at the topic they've been studying. I think it sounds cool and I'm looking forward to it, especially because the other two viewpoints are way more up my alley, not a big science person. Unfortunately universities require GenEd's so I don't have a c...

August 21, 2017 - part 2

Finished up my classes for the day, and then some. Turns out my professor for my Diplomacy, Security and Governance class was of the jumping right into it variety. Apparently we were supposed to have read some things he had put up on Canvas along with the syllabus but something went screwy with his Canvas page and it wasn't posted so no one did the readings. He made due, though, started up a discussion on the Syrian Conflict based on what we just knew about it from the news and the like. It was a good debate, lasted the whole class and would have gone on longer if he hadn't stopped it so he could talk about a few logistical things and finish up the lesson. Usually I love debates and I have a ton to say about whatever topic that's being discussed. I'm a very opinionated person and I'm not afraid to speak my mind, but I only like doing so when I'm confident about what I'm saying. I don't like it when people talk about things they don't know anything ...

It's my first day of classes at Indiana University and I've decided to celebrate it by creating a blog and trying my hand at expressing my thoughts through written form rather than keeping them in my head or just sharing them with whoever happens to be in my vicinity. So far it's been good, I had an Intro to Finite class at 8 this morning and my teacher decided to jump right into his lesson so I still have no idea about his syllabus, hopefully he's posted it on Canvas so I can look it up in my own time, it wasn't earlier. I had a few hours back at my dorm before my next class which started at 1 and just finished. It's connected to my major, which happens to be International Studies, I'm a Direct Admit to the School of Global and International Studies (SGIS) here at IU. No idea where it'll take me but I hope it'll help me figure things out, like what I want to do with my life. The class was called Culture and Politics and so far it seems pretty inte...
